Who am I?
One of the things that drew me into the field of Instructional Design was that I’d have the chance to pull from my multidisciplinary experience to help others in the corporate space. I’ve been a musician, visual artist, facilitator, as well as a video/audio content creator, and I wanted a chance to combine my artistic sensibility and creativity with learning objectives and adult-learning theories to solve business challenges.
Music
In my past life, I took music very seriously and even majored in piano. I’ve enjoyed being the lead singer for many groups and even coproduced an album of original songs. Through learning to produce music, I’ve also gained skills in audio editing and recording. I also own and know how to use professional mics and audio- engineering software to have the best audio for eLearning projects.
Painting
A few years ago, I started to paint with acrylics. Though self taught, I enjoy the process of choosing colors and learning about different techniques. Through my experience with painting, I’ve been able to assess and implement many theories of art and design that continue to develop me into a better designer in ID.
Different Cultures and Languages
While living in Barcelona for 5 years, I was able to achieve bilingualism in Spanish. I also had the experience of working in multicultural workplaces with colleagues from all over the world. This had allowed me to become better at working with others from different socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
